Partnership with Children runs three separate but complementary programs for at-risk children, adolescents and the teaching and administrative staff that serve them:
OPEN HEART - OPEN MIND
Founded in 1992, Open Heart-Open Mind (OHOM) is the only program to place social workers in schools full-time to help at-risk students. OHOM has delivered measurable results, including consistently raising student test scores on State standardized exams. We have won accolades from key education figures including New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein.
CENTER FOR CAPACITY BUILDING (CCB) The Center for Capacity Building (CCB), established in 2005, offers professional development and training, as well as an Open Heart - Open Mind replication model for urban school success. We work directly with school staff to facilitate capacity building and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to help inner city youth increase their potential for academic success.
LIFE STEPS Life Steps, founded in 1985, is a a preventative care program funded by Child Services that provides counseling to famlies and youth to help them prevent rehabilitiation, unemployment, and incarceration.
